TCRT5000 Line Following Sensor Module

The TCRT5000 Line Following Sensor Module is a widely used infrared sensor module designed for line-following robots and similar applications. It consists of an infrared emitter and detector that work together to detect the presence of a line or object by reflecting infrared light off surfaces. Sensitivity adjustment is also standard, allowing you to further fine-tune the output of the sensor.

The TCRT5000 sensor operates by emitting infrared light from an IR LED toward a surface. When the surface is light-colored, such as white, the infrared light is reflected back and picked up by the phototransistor. Conversely, if the surface is dark, like black, the light is absorbed with minimal reflection detected. As a result, the sensor generates a low signal  (0) for dark surfaces and a high signal (1) for light surfaces. This functionality makes the TCRT5000 particularly useful in robotics and automation applications where precise line tracking or object detection is crucial, such as in maze-solving robots or automated sorting systems.
