A 3.3-5V logic level shifting module is used to bridge the gap between digital circuits operating at different voltage levels. Digital circuits often use specific voltage levels to represent binary states (0 and 1). For example, one circuit might use 3.3V to represent a high signal (1), while another uses 5V for the same purpose. This is mostly applied to microcontrollers and sensors. For example, the Arduino Uno operates on a 5V logic level while a Teensy microcontroller operates on a 3.3V logic level.
When these circuits need to communicate with each other, a logic level shifting module is used to translate the voltage levels. This module typically consists of circuits designed to safely convert signals from 3.3V to 5V and vice versa.
The module features 4 channels for each direction of translation—one for converting 3.3V signals to 5V and another for converting 5V signals to 3.3V. This ensures that data sent from a 3.3V device can be read correctly by a 5V device, and vice versa, preventing potential damage to sensitive components and ensuring reliable communication between devices with different voltage requirements.
This module is a 4-channel variant, allowing the conversion of 4 signals. Its small footprint makes it easy to connect to breadboard for prototyping.
